Tucker, you were such a good swimmer even though, each summer, I had to encourage you to join .

We can only try as parents, to do what we think will help our children grow and become confident young adults.

I will never understand.

You spend years nurturing and loving your children. Seeing them off to their first day of kindergarten. Standing outside as you hear your son cry. Crying yourself because it hurt you to see your child sad and scared, but knowing it will eventually be alright.
Anxious for this first day of school to end so you can hug and kiss your child, reassuring not only him, but yourself that it will get easier.

Worrying about friends they are or are not making, hoping they fit in. Making good choices.

Proud to see them progress and grow. Helping them along the way. Supporting and encouraging them to overcome fears they may have when faced with new challenges, again telling them it is all part of growing up.

Helping them build inner strength.

Always the "good kids" never giving us any trouble.

Feeling pride when people tell you what a good job you must have done saying what beautiful children you have, respectful, kind, caring, funny. These are the words I remember.

We hold onto these words ignoring the possibility that maybe, inside their souls and minds, they are something else. Why would you? They love you and you them. Nothing can change that.

So you assume.

You spend years protecting them as children, but when they become adults you can only encourage and advise, the rest is up to them.

Then this. How? How can something like this happen?

How can evil step in like this?

Some parents have had to struggle through the loss of a child. I always wondered how. How can they?

A parent’s greatest fear. Mourning the loss of a child.

Can I mourn? Can I allow myself? If I do, does that mean I have given up on them? That they are the same as dead to me?

I cannot say in words the pain and loss I feel every single day and minute, but I will never mourn them!

I will never give in.

As I read the ramblings of Mr. Manning on his website, ( address above), it becomes more and more apparent that his mania, lies and deception continue.

He pleaded "NO CONTEST" and accepted a lesser charge (penal code (647(a) in the 2005 violation of the of PENAL CODE 243.4(E)(1),sexual assault.

THERE WAS NO "NOT GUILTY" VERDICT in that incident as Mr. Manning would like you to believe.

That being his 3RD arrest for sexual misconduct, how does he account for this?

He said he had this record expunged. Yes, 4 years after the 2005 conviction and after it was exposed over the internet in 2009.

"If you have successfully gotten a 1203.4 dismissal ("expungement"), it does NOT mean that the conviction is wiped away, sealed, purged or destroyed! The arrest is still there, charges are still there, but technically the conviction is "set aside and dismissed".

This eliminates the requirement of answering yes on Job apps. etc.when asked about prior arrests and convictions. As though he would ever look for a real job.

He would like you to believe he is a victim. Maybe he is of his own guilty pleasures.

He asks his readers if they wonder why he hasn't contacted his attorneys regarding all the internet postings exposing this information.

This is especially curious since he had quickly threatened law suits against those that questioned him in the past regarding his miraculous "AIDS" healing.

It is because what has been said on the internet is only truth, NOT SPECULATION, as he would like his readers to believe?

The documents were acquired from public court records.

He has become so used to the lies and deception he has been living, that even he is confused about the truth.

Matthew Manning is an evil, controlling and dangerous being.

If you read some of my first postings, it will help you understand why I despise this man.

My sons,Weston and Tucker, have no contact with anyone from their past including high school friends, cousins, aunts, uncles,grandparents and even their sisters.

They state in their website that all these people are part of the abuse and bondage they endured throughout their lives.

Really?

I am torn between saddness, anger and shame that they have come to believe such evilness.
It is hard to comprehend the sons I thought I knew could allow these ideas to take hold of them.

They were kind loving children and young adults. Is that why they were such easy victims to the likes of a minister such as this?

I remember the times you, Tucker and Weston, would be with us skiing and snowboarding as least once every winter.

We often stayed in the little A-frame cabin.

Your friend Carson was with us the year your Father had his heart attack after shoveling snow following the big snow storm.

I remember the year I fell and injured my knee and had to be sledded down by the ski patrol.

I was unable to ski later the same year when the three of you, Tucker, Kelsey, and Dad skied at Kirkwood.

I remember watching from the deck as you boarded past smiling and waving to me.

One year we stayed in the Squaw Valley Lodge for Thanksgiving.

We upgraded our room so there would be room for you Weston, but at the last minute you decided you couldn't make it. We missed you!

I remember watching Napoleon Dynamite together and laughing so hard!

Matthew C Manning's ministry continues it's sick and repulsive use of victims.

Unfortunately they are victims of the ministry. A ministry that focuses on perverted false memories and ideas of abuse.

He uses them, his victims, to tell stories that support the "Safe Harbor" he claims to supply to them. He then exploits them on his website having them give hideous false testimonials as victims, offering hope to others that have suffered from abuse.

Sounds like fishing for more vulnerable people that can be used as puppets and tools to further his ministry that focuses on sexual perversion>

Time Forgotten

A childhood full of family memories:

Birthdays with friends and family, Christmas mornings, camping with cousins, boating, wake boarding with family and friends, winters spent snowboarding and sledding, boyscout badges earned, learning to ride a bike, drive a car, swim team in the summers, baseball and basketball as a youngster, years of working hard to grow as a soccer player,swim parties at the house, sleepovers with friends all encouraged to be forgotten so "repressed memories" could take their place.

What do we know about repressed memory syndrome?

What we know is that most people that have claimed to have suffered from repressed memory syndrome, have eventually found these memories to be false.
Through repeated psychological patterning, a person can begin to believe many things. Removing a person from any element of his or her past is the beginning of this process.

When my sons became involved with the ministry of "Lighthouse World Evangelism Inc." the progression of the patterning began.

My eldest son, now 29, who after having moved into Matthew C Manning's home back in 2006 for what he said was for mentoring and counseling, had begun his journey of cutting all ties with family and friends. He continued to communicate occasionally with me via cell phone , but most often with his younger brother,now 19, who currently also lives and is associated with Matthew C Manning's ministry.

At one point my eldest son had changed his cell phone number so he wouldn't receive calls from anyone. When a friend he has known since kindergarten stopped by requesting it, I was immediately called by my son instructing me that I was to never give it out again, to anyone.

Following that episode he again changed it so even I could not contact him except through the ministry phone line. Those calls were never answered.

During the period from 2006 to date, Matthew C Manning's influence has prevailed. Just what is that influence? What is his motive?
To help the struggling? Mentor them in Christianity?
What is his ministry really about?

Lies and Deceit

There have been many events that have taken place in the course of the 2 years Matthew C. Manning became involved with my sons. Some I'm not ready to discuss yet, but there may be a time I feel it necessary to do so.

Matthew C. Manning has a history of using the legal system to protect himself and anyone who questions him. If you google his name you'll find a few sites that speak to this.

His threats of a law suit through the"Lighthouse World Evangelism legal Department" seems to be a common practice. I found it interesting that when we ended up in court during our legal involvement with him and my sons, he appealed to several attorney offices in attempt to acquire one that would represent their cause "pro bono". Where was his legal department then? When his legal department threatened us with a law suit for attempting to speak to our sons early in the course of this nightmare, no attorney name was produced upon our request.

In his journey to acquire a restraining order, there were several false police reports filed.

One report states threats of harm to his children and actually accuses us of incidents of shooting at them. Stalking and drive bye's were also filed.

All of these accusations are blatant lies and show clearly he is capable of saying anything to protect what? That is the big question.

My two sons who, if you were able to speak to anyone that knows or knew them, have always been honest and loving.

I will never believe that they are capable of the lies I had to endure hearing during the court proceedings unless they actually believed them. How does one begin believing such things? How do you turn from an honest loving son to believing you need protection from the parents that loved and nurtured you? How do you explain leaving behind the memories of your your past, family and friends allowing them to become perverted and twisted? How can you be whole without childhood history to embrace? Holidays, birthdays, family vacations all poisoned by false memories that developed since an involvement with such ministries as Matthew C. Manning's of Lighthouse World Evangelism Inc.

You read about young adults that get involved in cults and off beat ministries, but up until now those were always someone elses children, not mine. What is a cult?

Truth vs Deception

As you follow the above mentioned website and blog, please keep in mind the true nature of this ministry.

Matthew C. Manning claims a deliverance from homosexuality in 1989 and a complete healing from HIV/AIDS in 1994. His lifestyle of gay erotic dancing to have been left behind.

He became a licensed minister in 1997.

But..... in 1998 Mr. Manning was arrested for disorderly conduct /lewd acts .

In June of 1998 ,Mr. Matthew Manning married his current wife, Christa Manning.

Again, in August of 2000 Mr. Manning suffered another arrest for disorderly conduct/lewd acts. This time he faced prosecution and a jury trial.

In August of 2002 , Matthew and Christa Manning had their first born son.

All the while Mr. Manning has been running his ministry, preaching of his deliverance and salvation, reaching out to others with his stories of hope and healing.

Unfortuntly, in September of 2005, Mr. Manning found himself in court again.

This time the charges are a little stronger.

To quote court records:

The undersigned, being duly sworn, deposes and says, upon information and belief, that the said defendant, Matthew Courtney Manning, did, in the County of Sonoma, State of California on or about the 15th of August, 2005, violate Section 243.4(e)(1)of the penal code, a misdemeanor, in that he did willfully and unlawfully touch an intimate part of John Doe, against the will and for the specific purpose of sexual arousal, sexual gratification and sexual abuse.

Mr. Manning pleaded NO CONTEST to the offense of 647(a)PC, was (1)fined, (2) paid restitution, (3)served a stay away order of one year to said complainant and (4)90 day suspended sentence.

Christa Manning served as a good wife should, bailing him out of jail as needed.

I will continue to journal Mr. Matthew Manning and the ministry of Lighthouse World Evangilism Inc. in hope that by doing so anyone considering involvement with it will understand what it embodies.

Again, I welcome anyone who has any knowledge or experience with this ministry to share them.

What is a Cult?

I am a mother of two sons who have, since their involvement with the ministry of Lighthouse World Evangelism Inc. headed by Matthew C Manning, founder, cut off all ties with family and friends.
They have developed ideas of years of abuse they say they endured from their parents that have taken us through very painful court hearings in their attempt to acquire restraining orders.

Prior to their involvement with this ministry, we were a very close and loving family in the wholesome sense of the word. My youngest son was a senior in high school playing varsity soccer with many of his friends he has known since kindergarten and worked at a local pizza parlor. His younger sister and he, then 16, shared mutual friends.

Just two months after his turning 18, late at night when the family slept, Matthew C Manning drove from his home ,an hour and one half away, to our home and assisted my son in moving himself and all his belongings to an undisclosed location. Within a month Matthew Manning moved him into his own home where he runs his ministry. He and my eldest son, age 29, live there with several other people involved in his ministry.

My eldest son and I had always been very close, working at the same hospital and same department for several years. He was having some struggles personally and emotionally that brought him to this minister that he met online.

Since he has been living there and involved with this ministry, his mental state has deteriorated to the point that he is emotionally incapacitated, and no longer able to work.
Their attorney has informed us that they have been legally adopted by Matthew C. Manning and changed their names.

We have not been able to speak or have contact with them in almost two years other than through court proceedings. He has managed to isolate them from their past completely. Since they are not minors, our efforts to communicate with them are met with threats of restraining orders. The court has denied their request, but the process of fighting it has been very painful.

I love and miss my sons very much. I hope the day will come when they remember their roots and return to them so we can again be a family.

The effect this has had on their sister is heartbreaking. She too has been cut off from them and her attempts to visit them have been met with threats by Mr. Manning.

As for now I can only pray that they are functional and able to be healthy participants in society with some sense of independence.
